When you are trying to log in to the PC version of the MetaTrader 4/5 you may face some issues. In this article, we cover several most relevant errors and their reasons.
No connection
If you see an error “No connection” at the bottom right corner of the platform or in the Journal of your MetaTrader, there can be several reasons for it:
Waiting for an update
If you see a black screen instead of the chart, it means there are no quotes received by MetaTrader. With a stable connection, you will be able to see quotes on your chart and they will be updated while received. But no quotes mean there is no connection to your account. It may be for the following reasons:
Incorrect login details
Sometimes clients have problems while logging into MetaTrader because the credentials introduced are wrong. To avoid this situation, our clients can simply copy the credentials from the Dashboard following the next steps:

Nothing helps – still cannot log in
Unfortunately, sometimes nothing above helps. If you already tried everything above or even cannot choose the server from the server field (the field is empty), then you may need to use a DNS.
DNS is a special technical name of the server that will allow you to connect to the server directly. In case you simply cannot choose the server or no other options help to log into your account you may use DNS.
