How can I see the historical data and the tick history of an instrument on MetaTrader 5 and MetaTrader 4?

MetaTrader 5

You will be able to access and view both the historical data and the tick history in the MetaTrader 5 platform by following these simple steps:

Right-click on the Market Watch window
Select "Symbols"

To obtain the bars info click on the "Bars" tab, and set the instrument and the period, before clicking on "Request".

To obtain Tick data info click on the "Ticks" tab, and set the instrument and the period, before clicking on "Request".

MetaTrader 4

On MetaTrader 4, you will not be able to see the tick history, but you can see the bars' history:

Open the "Tools" tab on top and select "History Center"

Choose the instrument and the timeframe and double-click on it.
